Over the past year I have updated you on the updates and launch of UK based photographer Leigh Carter's site: boy:gender: male beauty. Leigh launched his revamped site this past September and he continues to add more incredible shots of some of some of the worlds hottest men! I profiled one my favorite models, Nick Wolanski and his work with Leigh, earlier this year (check previous post Here:) Although Nick has been on boy:gender since the get go in the 'In Bed' series, it was just this week that Leigh unveiled his full nude series with Nick. Leigh some of the shots in the past, but this is the first time the series of shots have been seen in full and uncensored. You can see the full set at boy:gender:male beauty HERE:

Favorite Pic of the Day for November 1st

Thought this was a cute pic of 20 year old model Roman by one of my favorite photographers Chris Teel.

Happy Birthday today November 1st to:

The only birthday that really excited me today was that of Toni Collette one of my favorite actresses. My favorite of Toni's films include: The Dead Girl, and of course my favorite, Muriel's Wedding. Toni turns 38 today. To celebrate, FH takes a look back at some of her famous co-stars!

Californiation star David Duchovny co-starred with Toni in 2004's Connie and Carla.

Bruce Willis below in Color Of Night shared the screen in one of Toni'g biggest hits, The Sixth Sense in 1999.

Eric Bana, below in Time Travelers Wife and Toni both supply their voices to last years Mary and Max.

Below: Toni's Velvet Goldmine co-star Ewan McGregor.

Hugh Dancy, below in Tempo shared the credits in 2007's Evening.

John Corbett plays Toni's husband in United States of Tara, but the scene below is from Baby On Board.

Richard Burgi (below in Nip/Tuck) briefly romanced Toni in 1995's In Her Shoes.

Sam Worthington, shown below in Somersault shared the screen with Toni in Dirty Deeds from 2002.

Muriel's Wedding
Sorry Mamma Mia (which I have yet to watch all the way through...) the #1 use of ABBA's music in a soundtrack is 1994's Muriel's Wedding in which both Toni and Rachel Griffiths turn in truly inspiring performances.

Death Becomes Him:

Over the past few weeks, with Halloween on the horizon, many of the cable stations that play old movies and tv shows have of course been showing their Ghostly themed offerings. While flicking last weekend the idea for this post began to come together. In 1992, Meryl Streep starred in one of the movies that had me begin to worry about her choices, Death Becomes Her which co-starred Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis. (although no movie had me worry as much as the horrid She-Devil).

Now Death Becomes Her is no classic but there is something about the subject matter, the premise that makes me understand why the talented cast signed on. while the execution and final product left a lot to be desired, the search to turn back the aging process and have eternal youth is a subject that at one time or another has intrigued us all.

In the movie, the wonderful Isabella Rossellini (who really has the best role comes off better than her co-stars) is the keeper of a secret potion that when taken ensures eternal youth. Of course this must come with a price tag as Streep, Hawn and Willis very quickly find out.

After watching for about 40 minutes I flicked over to find the Halloween episode (A very fine hour of televison if you have not seen it) of the truly special short lived 1994 series My So Called Life. As always, the face, and oh the eyes of the beautiful Jared Leto as Jordon Catalano drew me in. Jared, as Jordon was the 'good' bad boy, troubled but not rotten, adorable and most importantly, salvageable.

Many are critical of Leto for his weight and habit of taking on roles that go against his beauty. It is pretty clear why. Leto, as you can see from this 1990 photo shoot was beyond a good looking kid. I am sure his looks got him a lot of attention, much of it positive. Although I am sure his looks got him in the door, for a teenage boy, I can imagine there was also a fair share of unwelcome attention. It is one thing to be an 18 year old guy who is considered 'hot'. It is quite another to be that same guy and be considered beautiful. It is understandable then why Leto, since My So Called Life, has taken on ugly, unlikable characters which showcase his considerable acting abilities over his appearance. It is also clear why he may come across as quite unlikable at times in person. Leto is one of those actors who no matter what you think of is incredibly talented and immensely fascinating.

Leto is also one of those actor who does not seem to age. Despite his frequent changing and appearance (and weight for roles), despite his attempts at the grunge look for his band, or treatment of his body looks like he might have had a visit himself with Rossellini' Lisle von Rhoman somewhere around the year 2000. Although there are signs of Leto's life style on his face, his body and overall appearance remain similar to his appearance in the earl 1990's. I am not sure I can think of any other actor who has remained so unchanged over a 20 year period. It might be potion, it also might be the blue eyes. They shine in each of his pictures, regardless of age.

Below: Jared a couple of years ago.

Jared has not acted in the last year or two, instead he has focused on his music with his band, 30 Seconds to Mars.

Ryan Klem by Shane Smith

My virtual journey around the world to find the most talented photographers and most beautiful men today landed me in one of the worlds most beautiful places, South Africa. Model Ryan Klem hails from Pretoria and photographer Shane Smith from Johannesburg.

24 year old Ryan has been modeling since he was a young teen on runways and fashion shows. Ryan is a model who pays close attention to all aspects from his appearance. As well as fitness, Ryan feels how he presents, down to the finest detail, play a role in his professionalism.

'As photographer I've yet to find a better recipe for a successful photo shoot than a glass of good red wine, some good background music and a model that's in it for the fun. The outcome is guaranteed success. In my experience when tog and model meet for the first time it's intimidating and nervy for both parties. And I guess that's a good thing. Makes one humble and not overly confident. But those awkward moments should never last longer than a few minutes into the shoot or at most after that first glass of wine. It's when both tog and model are in the creative process of having fun that the best photo's are created, in my opinion.'

'For my first implied shoot I was a bit worried but, Shane through his professional and friendly personality made me feel at ease even before the shoot started. Throughout the shoot I had the most amazing experience and had so much fun during the shoot that I completely lost track of time and was almost sad that the day had ended! But I think the results of being comfortable and working with such an amazing person and photographer really shows! I have never been more comfortable being naked in front of anyone, thank you for giving me the opportunity to do this, it truly was a new frontier for me and the way that you went about it, made it one of my best experiences ever!'
